Working out the size of the ring you wish to buy is often a real struggle, especially if you are buying a ring on the internet. There are so many permutations, from which finger you wish to wear the ring on( and this can even be different between the left and right hand), to the width of the ring shank.
If at all possible it is much better to try a ring on and if you are thinking of buying a ring from Original Strands, all my rings are available to try on in Studio 9, Marlay Park Craft Courtyard, in Rathfarnham, D16V248. (Most of my rings can be made to you size, but it’s best to email me to discuss your requirements.)
However trying on is not always an option. And it’s not as difficult as you might think so don’t be put off! Here are some suggestions.
1. Purchase one of our handy little ring sizers from Original Strands (€5) which will be posted to you. (See image1). If you decide to buy a ring from the website the €5 will be deducted from your purchase.
2. Go into a jewellery shop in your locality and ask the jeweller to size a ring for you.(select a ring a similar width to the ring you wish to buy on the internet.)
3. If you wish to buy a ring secretly for someone you love, there are many different ways of working out sizes on the internet. The ring sizer tool I like the best can be downloaded from my website. Nb. Print it on an A4 sheet. Secretly select one of your loved ones rings, and measure the diameter using the tool. If the ring you use is narrow, and you are selected a ring with a wide band, go up a half zize when ordering. You see, that’s not so difficult!
4. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries. I’m here to help!
